Aquamentus

The first boss of the game, and most certainly not the last time that you will encounter him either. With a big spike on the front of his head, he could easily be mistaken for a green, evil Unicorn. His attacks are surprisingly strong and although he movements are limited his attacks are long range.

His attacks are fireballs that will go straight across the room and harm you. It's not just one at a time either, it's multiple attacks at a time.

Armos

This enemy doesn't initially look like a threat at all. The Armos is actually just a statue that will not attack you at all, that is, unless you bump into it. The moment that you touch an Armos the statue will suddenly become to life.

After they come to life, they'll attack you without mercy. After a while they will eventually return back to stone, but you just have to make sure you avoid them whilst they are alive.

Bubble

The Bubble is one of the few enemies in The Legend of Zelda who is impossible to destroy. Try as you might, they just will not die. This is because they strike fear into the heart of our Hero. If you decide to try and attack one, you will be cursed. This curse is brief, but it is very strong.

Once Link has been cursed, he will be unable to use his sword and will be open to attack from other enemies until the curse has been lifted. It is because of this curse it's advised to avoid them wherever possible.

Darknut

The Darknut is one of the harder enemies to destroy in The Legend of Zelda, they will mostly inhabit the Dungeons as the game progresses and there are two different types. The Red and the Blue Darknut. As usual, the Red Darknut is slightly weaker than the Blue Darknut, but both are destroyed in exactly the same way.

To destroy a Darknut you must kill them from behind, and usually you're only going to be able to do this with a sword. It sounds easy enough in practice; however, there are usually at least four plus Darknuts in any room that you will go to with them in. This means that you have to watch your back, as well as destroy the back of the enemy.

Sometimes using a bomb is the best way of killing a large group together; although they will still require the same amount of hits to be killed.

Digdogger

Digdogger is a fairly easy beast to destroy, although you are required to use a certain item. Otherwise attempts on his life will prove futile. Digdogger is a large and easy target to destroy with arrows. However, as stated you do need to use the Flute several times before he is able to be decreased in size.

Once the Flute has echoed through his ears and caused him to shrink, you can attack with your sword, but that leaves you vulnerable. So it's advised that you destroy him with arrows instead.

Gel

The Gel are what become of the Zol after you attack them initially. They will rapidly spread away from the Zol and just become a general annoyance until you destroy them. As they are fairly weak and can be removed with almost any of Link's arsenal, they are of little concern.

Ghini

The Ghini, which are a close cousin of the Poe, can be described as a typical ghost. They are known to haunt the Graveyards of Hyrule and will often attack as a collective rather than individually. As they attack as a collective, they will also die as a collective. Therefore you only need to focus your attacks on one enemy rather than trying to destroy multiples.

Ghini can be destroy by attacking them with a sword, a boomerang and occasionally arrows can work. Although it's mostly the sword that it used as it will dispatch of them in the fastest fashion.

Gibdo

Another enemy with a close cousin, the Gibdo is close to the ReDead and may often be confused the former in poor lighting conditions. In The Legend of Zelda, the Gibdo will wander around many different dungeons, trying to attack you. However, they are not fast and they are not strong so removing them from your path is neither difficult, or much of an inconvenience.

Gleeok

Gleeok is the holder of another piece of the Triforce shards. The enemy, unlike the Aquamentus is actually fairly dangerous. It's a common saying to say that two heads are better than one, then that must mean that three heads are frankly monstrous. The Gleeok will attack you physically with his heads, and he will also shoot out beams at you to damage you twice over.

After destroying his heads, one of them will detach itself and attack you whilst flying around in the air. The Head of Gleeok can only be destroyed with your sword.

Gohma

Gohma, this little holder of a Triforce shard. The destruction of Gohma is a fairly simple on, and it really isn't too taxing either. Aim for her eye, and let an arrow fly. That's it really. She will appear again in the game, and multiple times throughout the series. So always remember her simple formula.

Goriya

The Goriya are an ancient race that are sword to follow the evil King Ganon in his many attempts to capture Hyrule. This ancient race have mastered the boomerang and other ranged weapons, making them lethal in combat. They are also often equipped with multiple boomerangs, so make sure that you do not get over confident when trying to destroy them.

Keese

Keese will appear across every single dungeon in Hyrule, and the more Triforce shards you collect, not only will the Keese become steadily stronger, but they will also only start appearing in small corridors. Although their appearance becomes less frequent as time goes on, there are far more of them causing larger scale health damages.

The Keese can be destroyed with most weapons in the game, bombs, swords, boomerangs, arrows, pretty much anything really. It just takes a little longer to kill them with each level of Keese you encounter. Sometimes the Keese will be the result of destroying a Vire, and therefore takes that bit longer to clear the room of danger.

Lanmola

These giant centipede type creatures are only found later on in the game, and are powerful enemies. There are two different types of Lanmola, the Red and Blue Lanmola, the blue is stronger than the red and will take a lot more damage to destroy it.

After each attack on the Lanmola, it will become one segment shorter until only its head remains. At that stage you will need to destroy the head to be completely rid of the creature.

Leever

The Leever will appear mostly outside of dungeons in predominantly sandy areas. They will come up from underground in packs just to get in the way and cause a lot of damage. They are fast moving and although only cause minor damage with the first hit, there are so many of them usually that it's easy to be hurt.

Fortunately, they're fairly easy to kill a few swipes with the sword should get rid of them fine.

Like Like

The Like Like lives in various regions of Hyrule and is more of a nuisance than anything else. If you get too close to a Like Like they will suck Link in and try and eat his shield. If his shield has been eaten you will have to purchase a new one from the shop.

Even if Link doesn't have anything tasty on him, the Like Like will still try and eat him and then eventually spit him out. To kill this creature, try using anything really. Swords, arrows, and bombs are the best method. Fire also works well.

Lynel

A Lynel is the most powerful enemy that Link will encounter outside of a dungeon. They are incredibly strong and will only be able to take damage from behind. When battling them they also have the ability to shoot sword beams at you, much like Link at full health.

There are two types of Lynel, Blue and Red. Each will harm you, but the Blue is twice as strong as the Red.

Manhandla

Another keeper of a Triforce shard. The Manhandla is strong, but can be destroyed easily enough. You can shoot arrows at him until all of his arms have fallen off and then attack his head. Or you can try your luck and try and place a bomb where he'll be and when it explodes it will often kill him in one hit.

Moblins

The Moblin will tend to stick to the wooded areas in Hyrule, such as the Lost Woods and will tend to just throw spears at you to kill you. Although they have many weaknesses, they are not harmed by fire at all.

They come in two colours, Red and Blue, the red being the weaker of the two. It's easiest to kill them with your sword, although they usually come in packs so it's a good idea to look around the screen to make sure your back is covered.

Although they're not always enemies and will sometimes give you lots of money.

Moldorm

This rare enemy is only found in the dungeons of the game and is able to attack you in a very simple way. By literally just touching you - that's it. Fortunately, they're fairly easy to defeat and it just requires a sword to do so. Just attack the enemy with the sword and the Moldorm will shorten by one segment.

Once all segments have been removed, then the enemy will be vanquished.

Oktorok

As you can see with the Oktorok they are some form or land loving squid. They are the most common of all enemies on the overworld and can harm Link in two different ways. They can either spit a rock at Link, or they can simply walk through him causing damage.

There are also two different types of Oktorok, a stronger blue one and a weaker red one. Each have the same features and the same attacks, it's just one is stronger than the other. To destroy the Oktorok it's a simple sword attack to the body, or any other ranged weapon does the trick as well. Aside from the Boomerang which simply stuns them.

Patra

The Patra, an eye enemy comes in two different forms and can only be found towards the end of the game in Death Mountain Level 9. The two different forms have little difference in power, and it's just the esthetic that's different. Either way, this creature will easily hinder Link's progress through the dungeon if faced.

To destroy the Patra Link must first remove the outer eyes via a ranged weapon or the sword and then go for the kill with the centre eye.

Peahat

The spirit of a dead flower, the Peahat flutters around many different areas of the overworld in packs. With several different colours, each with varying levels of difficulty to kill. Upon seeing Link, they will flutter around with more intensity thus causing more possible damage.

To kill a Peahat Link would have to wait until they have stopped moving, at which point they are vulnerable to the sword, arrow or bombs.

Pol's Voice

An enemy that may have similarities to a cute little rabbit, but that's where it ends. Pol's Voice are a strong enemy, they are easy enough to defeat. With their large, super-sensitive ears to destroy a Pol's Voice requires little effort. Just play the Flute and they will explode.

With the super-sensitive ears they were once destroyed by a microphone peripheral on the NES; however, this meaning was lost in the West owing to localisation.

However, this character also has a weakness for ranged weapons and explosives. The sword will not harm them at all. One of the few enemies that fall into this category.

Rope

Appearing in the dungeons, the Rope is a simple creature really. A snake that will attack Link whenever he gets too close. With many of them appearing in one area they're normally fairly easy to destroy. However, they do move quickly so it's worth making sure that Link is ready to remove them in any conventional way.

Said conventional ways include sword, arrows and bombs.

Stalfos

Stalfos appear only in two different dungeons and appear as reanimated skeletons. These creatures carry swords in both hands to try and maximise damage against Link. However, these creatures really are easy to defeat. A few strokes of the sword or a few bombs will have these creatures removed easily enough.

Tektite

The Tektite is a crab like creature that bounces around many different areas of the overworld. They come in two different varieties, the Red and the Blue version. Each have the same qualities; however one is simply stronger than the other.

Removal of this creature is a fairly easy affair. They are vulnerable to most standard short and ranged attacks although the boomerang will merely stun them.

Vire

This super bat will inhabit many different types of dungeon across the game, and they will normally be with a group of various other Vere and Keese. This enemy is fairly easily removed, they are vulnerable to most attacks and normally only take one attack to destroy.

However, upon a successful attack the Vire will split into two Keese requiring a further few attacks to clear any danger.

Wall Master

A giant hand the lurks in many different dungeons, this Wall Master will float across the walls of various levels to remove Link from the correct path to destroy the Boss of the dungeon. They will usually appear right in front of the final few rooms before the Boss.

This creature is very easy to avoid as they are large in size to see and fairly slow. They also have a forboding noise that forwarns Link of their arrival.

Wizzrobe

As with many enemies throughout the underworld, there are two types of Wizzrobe. The first is the more common Red Wizzrobe which will teleport around the room that Link's in firing magic beams at him and then teleporting out again. The second type of Wizzrobe is the Blue one, this type of Wizzrobe will stalk around the room until they are lined up with Link and charge at him with magic beam attacks.

The Wizzrobe can be fairly hard to kill, but the most effective way of killing them is by getting in close to them and attacking them with the sword. If Link has enough energy left the beam sword will work well too.

Zol

The Zol is a gel like creature that just crawls around various dungeons waiting for prey to come close. It has no way of harming Link at a distance and the only way Link can be harmed by them is if he walks into them.

The Zol can be killed with almost any weapon that Link will have at the time, but the sword is usually the best way of killing these little creatures.
